We All Scream for Ice Cream

It is getting to be that time of year when the weather is perfect and everyone is ready to play. Unfortunately it is also time to cram in the last bits of work to salvage your grade. Though this weekend has had a dark cloud of work looming over my head, I couldn't help but take a break from all that worrying to grab a few scoops of ice cream at the newly open ice cream shop, Lick

Just the mint green and poppy red sign to give you a taste of what the creamery has to offer.

Summer Learnin'

Summer School is creeping around the corner and as my backpack gets heavier from approaching finals, I can't help but think of the grueling summer days ahead. To put myself in better spirits, I put together a few serious accessories to lighten the summer heat.

Coral Me Happy

Sometime's luck is on my side when a girl like this is just waiting at the same bus stop as me. From the simple dress to the boxy-tote, I couldn't wait to share her outfit. Besides the eye-catching color of her dress, she also had some wicked glasses to match the part.

Start off with a lightweight linen coral dress that ties in perfectly with a jean shirt and brown braided belt,

It was almost 2 o'clock and I was already late for my next class, but I couldn't help but forego all costs to snap a few photos of Lorraine and her seriously put together outfit. From a brightly printed cobalt blue skirt to the details of canary yellow, this girl showed me up on how to dress for school.

Start with a loose coral top and a printed cobalt blue skirt,

DenimSquared

With Austin's perfect weather, it is no wonder that everyone brought out their "Sunday's Best" for this lovely Tuesday afternoon. One girl caught my eye in her very casually-chic outfit from head to toe outside Jester going over a paper.

Paying it Forward

Drew made up "The Raid: Redemption" by suggesting our favorite past time, finding a bargin. After a hearty lunch of Korean BBQ and sushi, we headed out to our first stop, GW by Goodwill off Rollingwoods. If you have ever been to a goodwill before, you should clear any preconceived notions of it. The GW by Goodwill is formatted in a boutique style. It is a quiet little store filled with high quality donations that are well kept and organized. From books to polos, you'll be able to find more labels than worn love. Though we didn't purchase anything that day, I would love to go back and possibly get those J.Crew Pale Pink Chino Shorts that were exactly my size or the BCBG Blue and Green Printed Dress for $18. Yes, I said/wrote $18.

Oh a whim, I told Drew about Frock on Vintage, one of my favorite vintage shops around Austin now a days and just right around the corner.

Drew hit the jackpot when we found a pair of unhemmed brilliant blue tuxedo pants that looked close to unworn and in his exact size. What sweetened the deal? They were $18 and just a little extra to get them hemmed in house.

Luckily we pondered into the store on a Saturday during their "$2 Bin Sale".

peace+love+nails

One of the finer things in life would be to have your nails done. Not the run-of-the-mill, cramped in a chinese nail salon with 50 other customers sort of salon, but the sort of salon that comes with plush colored chairs, mimosas, and a galore of organic nail polishes for your choosing. Wanting to surprise our friend, Kara, for her birthday, we made appointments at Peace Love Nails on a whim.

The reception's desk decorated with the logo and tons of sea foam colored mosaic tiles.

Trading Spaces

After what feels like eternity, school has finally calmed down a little or at least enough to get a few hours of fun in. From tacos to action-packed movies, I would say it was a date a bit out of the ordinary. Since I am always down for trying new things, when a friend says that she's always wanted to try Maria's Taco Express because EVERYONE keeps telling her it's the best, I am going to try the place the first opportunity I get.  That opportunity just happened to be that night for Friday Date Night.

Order and Pay from a menu that serves breakfast all day.

The outdoor patio with live music and a larger bar where you can get Dos Equis by the bucket, Margaritas and Beer Specials from 3-7 during Happy Hour.

A quirkier side to the establishment is all the detail in the decor, one stand out example is this trash can.

Since it was Drew's turn to pick date night, he gleefully chose one of his favorite past times, seeing a movie at Alamo Drafthouse. Never have I seen a boy get so eager to buy a GoogleOffers till they had a deal on Alamo Drafthouse (buy $10 for $20 on tickets).
Sock tunnels and vintage signs, just the everyday walk into Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.

Just the every Friday night line into one-of-a-kind films like the one we waited in line for.

Getting ready for the "The Raid: Redemption"

I wish I had the time to mentally and physically prepare myself for this one as it was  one of the more intense action-packed movies I have ever seen in my life.

As much as I enjoyed the night, I am glad I did get a promise from the lovely boyfriend to see any romantic-comedy without any questions asked.

Polk-A-Lots

I'm a little skeptical of polk-a-dots right now in a field of color-blocking, but on a sunny day like today I don't know if I could compete anyways. Ergo, neutrals with neutrals with more neutrals.

Art School Girls

Starting the beautiful weekend off right, Froomie Kate and I hit up some happy, happy hour of 1/2 pizza and $2 off drinks at Sagra on San Antonio Street before the VAC Art Opening/Senior Exhibition. I've always seen this little house close to campus, but I've never had a real reason to eat there until now. This little trattoria drums up some nostalgia about my own study abroad experience in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. From the crisp white linens to the oven baked pizza, Sagra held its own against the real deal.

Kate cheers-ing to our choices in life and ordering the "Sagra" Pizza.

The VAC, Visual Arts Center, holds openings for each of their new exhibitions. These exhibitions are crowded with art junkies, students, and just generally good work. You can follow all of their artistic happenings on their calender. A little unknown fact to the rest of the world is the wonderful open bar they usually have at these events.
